Common questions

The chart is showing the wrong balance — how do I fix it?

Till Payday doesn't connect to your bank, so every projection starts from the balance YOU enter. To update it: tap the pencil icon next to BALANCE on the dashboard, or tap your account in the Accounts tab. The dashboard and widget refresh within a moment.

I changed my cushion but the verdict didn't move.

The verdict (YOU'LL MAKE IT / YOU WON'T MAKE IT) flips when a projected day goes below zero, not when it goes below your cushion. Your cushion drives the SAFE TO SPEND calculation and the BELOW CUSHION warning, but the headline only changes for actual overdraft risk.

I'm not getting reminders for my bills.

Till Payday sends a local notification at 7 PM the day before your three biggest fixed-amount bills hit. To get them you need to grant notification permission — open iOS Settings → Notifications → Till Payday → Allow Notifications. If you have fewer than three bills, you'll only see reminders for the ones that exist.

How do I back up my data?

Settings → "Export your data" produces a JSON file with every account, bill, income, and setting. Save it to Files, iCloud Drive, email it to yourself, or AirDrop it to another device. There's no import path yet — if you need to restore from an export, email us and we'll help.

I switched currencies but old amounts look strange.

Switching currency only changes the symbol and number formatting — it doesn't convert dollar amounts into the new currency's purchasing power. If you set your cushion to 500 in USD and switch to EUR, it's still 500 (now displayed as €500). Update the amount manually if you mean a different value.

Why doesn't the app connect to my bank?

By design. Connecting to banks requires sending your data to a third party (Plaid, Finicity, etc.) which means your transaction history leaves your phone. Till Payday is a paycheck-to-paycheck planning tool: you enter the numbers, we project the future. It's slightly more manual, dramatically more private.

I want to delete everything and start over.

Settings → Manage → press and hold Reset. This wipes every account, bill, income, and your cushion — same as a fresh install. Uninstalling the app also removes all data (Till Payday stores nothing outside the app's sandbox).

Is my data private?

Yes — Till Payday is 100% on-device. No servers, no analytics, no advertising SDKs, no data collection of any kind. See the full Privacy Policy.
